Streets

There are plenty of busy shopping areas in Amsterdam. Some streets you’ll visit without even realizing, whilst others you may be on the look out for. As it’s always good to kind of know your way around the city your visiting. I thought it’d be beneficial to provide some of the most useful streets Amsterdam has to offer right here.

Suggest a street!

The Busy DamrakDamrak

One of the busiest streets that’s usually packed with tourists and enough souvenir shops for each person. Hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops and plenty more can all be found here. There are museums here as well such as the Vodka museum and the Sex museum.

The cake shop on DamstraatDamstraat

Damstraat starts at Dam Square and heads up towards and past the red light district, coffeeshops, gift shops and eateries. This street is always busy and filled with cyclists. Although DamStraat is narrow like most Dutch streets. It still manages to allow the flow of people to carry on without too much disruption.

Kalverstraat

This is a busy pedestrian shopping area. Shops found on here include, clothing stores, health shops, eateries, footwear stores and everything else you can imagine that can be bought on a credit card. If your looking for gifts and things for people and need a shopping fix, this is the place for you.

The corner of Herengracht and RaadhuisstraatRaadhuisstraat

With the Magna Plaza and food super market, Raadhuisstraat has hotels, the Post Office and places to grab a bite to eat from. Follow this short street and you’ll find yourself in the Westermarkt with the Westerkerk looking over the area.

Warmoesstraat

Warmoesstraat is a popular tourist street. Everything from Cafes, coffeeshops, food, souvenirs and more can be found here. Just round the corner of the Red light district and the busy Damrak. Warmoesstraat offers plenty of entertainment for visitors to the area.

Van Baerlestraat

Found to the south of Amsterdam. The Van Baerlestraat is a popular and vibrant place with things to see and places to visit. Attractions and things to do nearby include the Vondelpark and Museumplein. The Leidseplein with all it’s attractions and places to visit are just minutes away.

LeidsepleinLeidsestraat

The Leidsestraat runs from the Koningsplein down towards the Leidseplein.  Housing many interesting buildings such as fashion stores, eateries and even souvenir shops the Leidsestraat is a point of interest to many visitors to Amsterdam.  Not only for the restaurants and other big businesses. But also for the Melkweg and smaller shops.
