While on holiday in Amsterdam, you might find that you’ve run out of Euro’s and in need of exchanging your home cash into Amsterdam cash. After all, Amsterdam can be an expensive place to be.
You’ll see plenty of places that offer you the chance to exchange your money into local currency, but the real problem is. Which one is better?
Well for a start, the one on Damrak isn’t the best as the rates they charge are rather high. My friend got some cash exchanged there whilst we were in Amsterdam and says he was seriously ripped off. So your best bet is to look around and get the best conversion rate.
Places worth checking out are inside Central Station, Your hotel/Hostel,Post Office,Banks,Damstraat,Leidseplein and other busy and popular areas.
Also you may want to check out what the banks exchange rates are and see if you can get a better deal.
If none of those options suit you and you’ve got your bank card on you. Then you could also consider just sticking your card into a Dutch cash machine and withdrawing your money in local currency. Don’t panic, once you put your card into the machine, it should auto detect your language and everything will display just perfect. Alternatively, look for the language selection button on the screen.
