Sarphatipark.
The Sarphatipark is an urban park within walking distance of Vondelpark,Dam Square and the Albert Cuypmarkt. To find the park, head towards to the south of the city or aim straight for the Albert Cuypmarkt. Once in this part of town, the park can be found at the end of Ceintuurbaan and can be reached by tram line 3.
The park gets its name from the Jewish Doctor Samuel Sarphati, who was a well known Philanthropist of his time. A giant statue of Samuel Sarpathi can be seen in the park and symbolizes the new era of the Netherlands.
The park has plenty of features for you or anybody else who happens to fancy a stroll through the park to enjoy. Things such as cafes and places to grab a bite to eat from are everywhere in the immediate vicinity. The park also offers play areas for children and even a dog free grassy area for anyone doesn’t want to deal with dog mess or has a fear of dogs.
The park isn’t huge by any means, in fact its rather small in size. So activities such as playing football or anything that requires a considerable amount of space may be difficult, if not impossible.
Despite it’s small size, the Sarphatipark is among the most beautiful parks in Amsterdam, with even more history behind it.
If you’ve got 10 minutes to spare after wandering round the Albert Cuypmarkt, why not take a seat for a few moments and look over what goodies you’ve just bought.
