Oosterpark
OosterPark is one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful parks with many relaxing locations. OosterPark has a lot of grass that you can sit around and relax, or a nice pond which you can walk by and observe the nice scenery. Either way, whatever you do at this park you will enjoy yourself with its beauty.
This park was constructed in 1891 by Mr. Leonard Anthony Springer. Many people do not know this, but in order for this park to be built, a whole cemetery had to be moved; however some leftovers from the cemetery still remain there today.
While you travel to the park you will probably notice a very popular monument, called the National Slavery Monument. This monument was built to represent the abolition of slavery in the Netherlands in 1819.
Many of the people that you see at Oosterpark are the locals that live in the area, which is a very diverse set of people. This park is popular with the locals because of its size, which allows people to host party’s, play sports, and have many other large gatherings of people. Every year the Amsterdam Roots Festival, a world music festival, is held every year during the month of june.
So if you are ever in the area of Oosterpark be sure to stop by this beautiful park in Amsterdam. If you are stressed or just want to go out and see the beauty, this is probably the best place for you. The people, the scenery and all the space will give you a chance to clear your head and enjoy yourself.
