Save money on Holiday with these tipsWhen on holiday in Amsterdam. It’s hard to try and save money. After all, your unsure of where to buy things from cheap, it’s a tourist location so pretty much everything is over priced and what’s not overpriced just looks unappetising, whether it be one of the local delicacies or a traditional food you just don’t recognize.

There are many different ways to try and save money while on holiday to the amazing and beautiful Amsterdam. From museum and tram savers. To knowing where to shop and what to buy.

Here’s a few popular tips and tricks to save you some money whilst on holiday in Amsterdam:

1.  Buy your food from the supermarket

Buying food from the supermarket is a great way to save yourself a few Euros. As an example, a multipack of Twix costs just €2.09 where as a single Twix from any of the shops will cost you at least a Euro. A 2 litre bottle of Sprite is just €1.42 at the Supermarket.  Anywhere else in town you’ll be lucky if you pay the equivalent to get a 500ml bottle.  Supermarkets can save you a small fortune, especially if you decide to rent an apartment in Amsterdam as you’ll have cooking facilities,a fridge and microwave.

Dam SquareThere’s plenty of things to do while in Dam Square, Whether your interested in shopping, seeing some sights or just relaxing. Dam Square caters for all entertainment needs, even if it’s raining.

You can find Dam Square at the end of Damrak,Damstraat,Kalverstraat and Warmoesstraat. All streets in this area end or start at the famous and popular Dam Square.

1.) Events,fairgrounds and performers.
Dam Square is often filled with things to do. Whether it be carnivals or festivals or fairground rides and ice rinks. Dam Square nearly always has something going on. If there’s no special events running in the square, then you might enjoy some of the other options for this popular hub of Amsterdam.

2.) Romantic Horse & Carriage tour
If your in Amsterdam with a loved one, then this horse and carriage tour could suit you down to the ground. Enjoy an hour long tour round some of the oldest parts of Amsterdam, or choose to tour around the most interesting parts of Amsterdam such as the RLD and the older parts of the city.

When in Amsterdam it can be a facinating experience to see the city like others may not have seen it. Luckily there’s plenty of options available for the more tour inclined traveller.

Amsterdam has tour options available for walking,land vehicles and water. I dare say it won’t be long until there is also an air option to be added to the above. After all, Amsterdam is constantly expanding giving it endless possibilities.

Looking for a few things to top up your holiday? This short 5 things to do in Amsterdam guide should give you a few clues on things to do while away in this cultural and historical city.  The list of things here are available throughout the year with no seasonal limits.

Some of the things listed below may not suit you but may give you an idea of something you’d like to try whilst in Amsterdam on holiday, after all there’s so much to do in this amazing city, it’s too hard to list a top 5 that would suit everyone.

1.)  The Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House isn’t just a museum. It’s a museum with a story.  Visit the secret annex where Anne Frank hid during the invasion of the Netherlands all that time ago.  The Anne Frank house is a wonderful place to see and get a glimpe into how the hidden group survived.

2.) Dam Square

Dam Square is often described as the hub of the city as many of the central streets start or end here.  There’s so much to do here that you can spend hours browsing the various shops or enjoying a meal in one of the many restaurants or cafes.  At the square itself you’ll be able to enjoy a trip round Madame Tussauds or the Royal palace.  The Nieuwe Kerk welcomes you with it’s exhibitions.

3.) Visiting Museums

It’s not hard to find something that peaks your interest when it comes to museums in Amsterdam.  Whether your a diamond lover wanting to see the worlds smallest diamond, a football enthusiast wanting to visit the AJAX museum or an art lover interested in seeing many of the works of Van Gogh and other famous artists.
