Amsterdam in January – Cold weather and ways to stay warm.

So while we were Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago, we noticed something about the weather. It was ice cold!  Now i know i should of wrapped up in layers and taken the essentials with me. But we did all that and still suffered at the hands of the freakishly cold weather conditions that January had in store for us.

Amsterdam airport to Central Station

On our most recent trip to Amsterdam, we went ahead and found out exactly how easy it is to get from Amsterdam’s airport (Schiphol) to the centre of Amsterdam (Centraal Station).  The result is that it is extremely easy (and cheap) to travel from the airport to the city centre.

Cheap things to do in Amsterdam

With the economy down and the exchange rate is making things hard for travellers abroad.  We thought it might benefit people if we could provide a list of free things to do in Amsterdam.  The only one’s that won’t be free are the ones where a small fee must be paid (Either for entry or for transport to that part of town.) Of course, deciding to spend some money on shopping in many of the great locations won’t be free,but you could always spend an hour or two just browsing.

If you know of ways to spend nothing but still enjoy Amsterdam (thus keeping it cheap) Please let us know via the contact form with as many details as possible.

Walk the canals in Jordaan.

Walking along the canals in Jordaan gives you the feel and sights of what the famous painter Rembrandt saw when he wasn’t as popular as his fame led him to nowadays.  If you get the chance while walking the Jordaan canals, try and find the Rozengracht (Rose canal) which is where Rembrandt had his home. 8 Forgotten museums in Amsterdam

If your planning a trip to Amsterdam then you’ve possibly got at least one museum on your list that you wouldn’t mind visiting.  If your an art lover or a history lover, then there’s probably several museums in Amsterdam on your  ‘todo’ list.

Well how about adding at least a couple more onto your list for while your there?   There not exactly forgotten. But probably don’t receive as much attention as they deserve.

Plenty of people visit the popular museums such as the Rijksmuseum,Van Gogh,The Anne Frank house and sex museum to name just a few.  But what about the other hidden little treasures that most visitors don’t know about? Let alone go to see.
