No other beer in the world is as famous as the Heineken. And because of this, the Amsterdam-based liquor offers its fanatics and all the beer lovers the tour they would definitely not forget.
To have the Heineken Experience, you must head to the brewery which is located at the Stadhouderskade 78 in Amsterdam. It was only in 1991 when the company decided to expand the brewery and establish a museum for the world-renowned beer. This part of the Heineken building was first known as the Heineken Treat and Information Center. But that really does not sound very appealing. So in 2001, the company changed the building’s name into Heineken Experience. As of today, the Heineken Experience is considered as the most famous tourist attraction in Amsterdam.
And just like the other tourist attractions in Amsterdam, the Heineken Experience also undergone several renovations. Since November 3, 2008 the building had been reopened to the public with more features, memorabilia, and definitely a greater experience.
Since one of the reasons why the museum was built is because of advertisement, there are of course free beers if you would sign up for a tour on the Heineken Experience. Two beers will be given to the visitors who are already more than 18 years old. Those who are under 18 may also get to enter the Heineken Experience as long as they are accompanied by adults. Unfortunately, they don’t get to have free Heineken beers. But in order to prevent tipsy visitors from strolling the museum and the brewery, the free beers are only given after the tour.
The Heineken Experience is open from Monday until Sunday starting from 11 in the morning until 7 in the evening. However, the Heineken Experience tickets can be purchased only until 5:30 in the afternoon.
