Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House is a constant reminder of what the people in Amsterdam (And the rest of the Netherlands) had to endure during the time of the second World war. Reading through notes written by Anne herself, it’s not hard to sense her fear or the fear of those around her.

The painful part of the diary and the story behind Anne Frank, is where the betrayal is described. When Anne and her family members are taken from their home and transported across Europe to Auschwitz.

The house itself was taken on by volunteers and charitiable groups to prevent the house from collapsing many years ago. The main focus was to preserve the the secret annex in which Anne Frank and the other “voluntary prisoners” hid from the German troops.

Anne Franks diary is on display in the Anne Frank House museum. Learn About the betrayal that took Anne from Amsterdam to the infamous Auschwitz prisoner detention camp.

Learn about the helpers, the hinged bookcase and everyone who was hiding with Anne, As well as viewing a scale model of the secret annex and the conditions that Anne and her prisoners stayed in until their betrayal.

Any travellers to the museum should be forewarned that the steep staircase in the museum, makes it unaccessible for people with walking difficulties.
