Ice Skating

Often reserved for the winter months (Oct – Mar) , ice skating in Amsterdam is a fun and exciting way to keep warm, have fun and meet new and interesting people.

During the warmer months you probably won’t find anywhere to ice skate, but at least you can float around on inline skates in one of the many parks in Amsterdam.

Temporary skating venues include the Leidseplein, where just in front of the Grand cafe “Three Sisters” a small platform is setup with skate hire available. (I think it cost around €4.50 for the boots.)

Another venue where you can get your skates on, is the Museumplein during the colder months, especially if the weather looks like it may have frozen the pond. If the ponds not frozen, then i guess you could always enjoy a splash about in the water. (Not advised ;) )

For an indoor venue, the IJscomplex Jaan Eden has both indoor and outdoor rinks.  Located to the east of the city past the Oosterpark and just around the corner from the Science park, the IJscomplex Jaan Eden can be reached by most of the public transport that operates around the city.
