Being a big city and the capital of the Netherlands. Amsterdam has lots of different health clubs,saunas and leisure facilities available. Hopefully whatever your looking for is listed below. If it isn’t and you find it while there, please let us know so we can get to adding it right away.
Feeling in the need for a bit of a workout? Want to work off some of those oliebolens you’ve picked up on the way round Amsterdam? Any of the multitude of gyms and health centres will be happy to accept you and help with whatever you need.
Skating
Ice Skating in Amsterdam is a seasonal thing, in fact during the winter months skaters you can find several locations with cheap skate rental around the city.
Inline skating is available at Vondelpark and a couple of indoor locations around the city. Taking to the streets can prove slightly chaotic, so cruising around the parks or quieter areas of town are possibly safer. At least until you feel safe on your wheels.
Although Amsterdam is full of canals, they aren’t meant for swimming
. Instead check out the leisure centres with swimming pools, or head for the swimming baths. Many of the pools are dotted around the outskirts of Amsterdam
Enjoy playing around and making a raquet? (Bad pun i know). With the amount of courts available to play this fast and energetic game you should always be able to find somewhere.
If after a hard workout or walkabout you want to unwind and take a sauna, then your in luck. Amsterdam has several saunas to suit different people. Gay saunas and co-ed saunas are common place, as are the more traditional style saunas where you can go and sweat it out with the locals or other travellers of the same sex.
