The current location of the Leidseplein used to be called as the Leidsepoort. It was used to be the mark of the end of Amsterdam’s main road going to Leiden. But because of the changes made in Amsterdam, the Leidseplein is now a popular destination among men and women who want to have a taste of the nightlife experience here in Amsterdam.
The Leidseplein is considered as the nightlife area in Amsterdam. There are so many vibrant clubs within the square. Tourists and locals who do not wish to mingle with crowd are not advised to go to the Leidseplein especially when the clock strikes 7 o’clock in the evening until midnight. People who will be going here in the square are also advised to take care of their belongings and protect it from pickpockets especially during the night.
