Dutch clogs make a great souvenir for just anybody. Originally made out of willow or poplar wood, the Dutch clogs are classed as part of the Dutch national dress. Not so crazy after all eh?
Because the Dutch wear clogs most of the time, they are often reffered to as cloggies which means clog-wearers. Dutch clogs aren’t just for fashionable footwear either.
Due to them being made of solid wood, Dutch clogs have been given a safety rating which passed the EU CE standards with flying colours. Just think of them as steel toe capped boots almost. If you drop something on your feet whilst wearing clogs, your not going to feel very much.
Other than being saftey shoes and part of the national dress. Dutch clogs are also said to be great for your feet! So if your wanting to make your feet healthy again, grab some of the famous Dutch clogs which can be found in the majority of tourist shops.
If your wondering what these magical wooden shoes are called in Dutch, then the word you’d be looking for is Klompen.
