The streets of Amsterdam are lined with all kinds shops and souveneir shops. But its the sheer amount of cafes,restaurants and the unique coffeeshops that Amsterdam has to offer that makes it just a bit different.
Around every corner is a place to get something to eat. Whether it be a FEBO, an ordinary cafe or a restaurant. Choices run into the hundreds when it comes to grabbing a bite to eat or just somewhere to take the weight off of your feet.
Some of the restaurants and cafes offer the local dish of Erwtensoep (Pea soup) or Haring which is a raw herring fish which is eaten with raw onions. If your not into eating things raw. Then this is probably not for you. (especially if your not the adventurous type.)
Some of the finer restaurants in the city, offer everything from sushi and Asian dishes. To fine French dining and Italian dishes. All in all, you can get just about anything from the restaurants and cafes in Amsterdam. You just have to look around to find them. Check out places such as Duende,Kaiko and Cafe Roux.
FEBO is like a walk-in self service take away. When you enter FEBO, your immediately confronted with a giant wall full of food. The wall is made of various hot boxes with a different snacky type food inside each one. Food varies from burgers and fries, to kaassouffle and other things i don’t know the name of. All of which is kept warm by the heating lamps inside each compartment. Simply insert the right amount of change into the slot and pull the door open.
Coffeeshops offer tourists and locals alike the chance to sit down and enjoy one of the many laws that are different in Amsterdam. Coffeeshops aren’t exactly somewhere to go and eat if your hungry, although some do offer quite an extensive menu of food. The coffeeshop does sell coffee though, as well as cannabis. So if you want to keep away from cannabis smokers. Coffeeshops aren’t for you. These are like everything else, scattered across the city and offer coffee and light snacks. Most coffeeshops are set to a different theme. Meaning that no two are really alike. The music differs from coffeeshop to coffeeshop and some are more comfortable than others.
