The Amsterdam Red Light District is well known all over the world. From England to Australia and everywhere in between. Everything you’ve probably heard is true. There is indeed windows lit with pink and red lights, in these windows are women parading around in just their underwear. It’s no surprise it’s so well known.

Before visiting the Amsterdam red light district, there’s a few things you should probably know.

1. Don’t take photos/video of the girls.

It’s banned and can get you into a fair amount of trouble. Whether you just want to have memories of your time in Amsterdam. Or have a laugh with your mates down the pub. Don’t do it!

2.Drug Dealers

You might find people offering harder drugs than what the coffee shops sell. Most the time a simple “No thanks” will do the job. Best thing to do is keep walking.

3. Crime

Keep your wits about you. Whether your admiring the view of the canals and buildings. Or checking out the girls in the windows. Make sure you’ve got a firm grip on where your valuables are. Where ever there is a large amount of people. There will always be pick pockets. Try and keep to the main streets if you feel uncomfortable.

4. The Girls – Prices

The prices in the red light district vary from girl to girl really. But the general price to snag yourself one of these girls for the evening is as low as €80. The girls have to pay for their windows somehow. So don’t be surprised if your asked to leave when your time is up.

5. Amsterdam Live Sex Show

Fancy catching a live in front of your eyes sex show? Another favourite for travellers to the area is the live sex shows the red light district has to offer. It’s just about impossible to miss the sex theater in this area. The Casa Rosso is one of the largest buildings on the canal front and is equally well lit. Prices are upwards of €50.
