With the arrival of Zachary last year. All plans for visiting Amsterdam have been put on hold. Fora number of reasons really.
The main reason is we don’t have anyone near enough that can look after Zachary for a few nights. In fact he has never spent a night away from us. Not because we don’t trust anyone else with our little sweetheart. But because the last time we went our BMI flight was delayed without warning or them even telling us when we would be able to fly home. So we were stuck in the airport for hours on end.
Putting that kind of pressure on someone and being stuck in a foreign country is a problem that my partner and I worry about the most.
Another reason is that if we took Zachary there, his pushchair wouldn’t be able to handle all the cobbles that fill the streets of Amsterdam. Plus many of the hotels aren’t pushchair friendly and there’s not alot for a child of his age to do (11 months old) in Amsterdam.
We have however decided to go back in a couple of years time, whether we take Zachary with us still debatable but at least when he’s a little bit older there will be heaps more things for him to. Like visiting Tunfun, or some of the museums. Or even taking a canal tour or 3 or even drop by the kinderkookkafe once he gets old enough.:)
There are things for kids to do in Amsterdam. Just not when the’re 11months old from what i can tell.. So we intend on flying off for a holiday of sea, sunshine and sand in somewhere warmer like Spain.
