With over 47 million passengers in 2007, Amsterdams Schiphol airport is regarded as a one of the busiest airports in the world often dealing with huge amounts of freight and traveller luggage every day.
With the increase in security measures and the delays experienced by many travellers whilst quueing up to get through bag searches. Schiphol airport have signed a contract to have a range of new security checks put in place.
Ranging from self service kiosks, baggage handling robots and RFID devices, The deal is planned to take into account the growing number of baggage thats expected in years to come. Making the system somewhat future proof.
Mark Lakerfeld from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol said:
“With this baggage transport system we will be able to manage the future growing stream of passengers and baggage.”
What this hopefully means for the average Schiphol visitor is less waiting times through baggage checks…. Hopefully.
